因果复句 Causative Complex Sentences
In causative complex sentence, the subordinate clause explains the reason, and the main clause shows the result.
因为…，所以…。（由于）…，所以/因此…。既然…，就…。…，可见…。…，因而…。因…，故…。鉴于…，…。由于…，以致…。…，以至于…。之所以…，是因为/是由于…。
例如：
- 警察来了，于是我们就溜走了。 The police arrived, so we scarpered.
- 因为我害怕光，所以戴着一副太阳眼镜。 I wear a pair of sunglasses because I'm afraid of light.
- 由于某种个人原因，我将不能出席。 For certain personal reasons I shall not be able to attend.
- 她如此喜欢旅游，以至于旅游已经成为她生活的一部分。 She likes travelling so much it's become a way of life for her.
- 发言者双手颤抖，可见他很紧张。 The shake of the speaker's hands betrayed his nervousness.
- 鉴于他才刚刚开始，他懂得的已经不少了。 Considering he's only just started, he knows quite a lot about it.
- 法老毕竟被当作神，因而长生不死。 The pharaohs, after all, were considered gods and therefore immortal.
- 他身体不适，因此我们只好把他留下。 He wasn't well, so we had to leave him behind.
- 既然你安顿下来了，为什么不做些认真的研究呢？ Now you're settled, why don't you take up some serious study?
- 我被惊呆了，以致几乎无法思考。 I'm so numbed with shock that I can hardly think.
- 法官大人，我之所以提出这一点，是因为我认为了解被告的背景是很重要的。 I bring this up, your honour, because I think it is important to understand the background of the defendant.
- 因为天气不好，所以我们没去颐和园。
- 由于路太远，病人在半路不幸去世了。
